IMPORTANT SALE of PURE-BRED

SHORTHORNS of the WORLD RENOWNED BUTTERFLY BLOOD.

DALMAHOY CAMPBELL and Co. in conjunction with KAYE, BUTCH ART, and Co., are favored with instructions from those celebrated breeders, Messrs. Morton Brothers and Leach (who are re-turning to England), to SELL by AUC-TION, without the slightest reserve, on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, at their farm, Mount Derrimut, near Melbourne,

The whole of their magnificent herd of pure-bred SHORTHORN CATTLE, com-prising

The imported Butterfly bull ROYAL

BUTTERFLY, 6th (18,757) 12 YOUNG BULLS,

54 COWS and HEIFERS,

And their increase up to Nov. 5.

Also,

Coates's Herd Book, complete, in 16 vols.

The members of this herd are all imported or bred from imported ires an d darna of the highest most fashionable, and best blood obtainable in England, and are entered in Coates's English herd Book ; the fi st importation being LORD RAGLAN (18,241) and Jl STAMINE, in January, 1856, for which an offer of 1000 guineas was refused. More recently additions have been made to the herd of the following imported cows, vii. :-APRIL FLOW Ht, by Col. Towneley's pjize bull Richard Cceur-de-Leon ; MA-TILDA, of the Lax and booth blood ; ROAN SUMME Í TON, a combination of Town eley and Bates'a best blood, and R08A, bred by Messrs. Morton, SkeLmergh-hall England, the breeders of Lord Raglan (13,241). ROYAL BUTTERFLY blXTH (18,757), has been used in the herd during the last five years. He is a grandson of the late Mr. Ware's 1200 guinea bull, the famous Masher Butterfly (13,311), and sou of Col. Towneley's still more noted Royal Butterfly (16.882), and Venilia's Butterfly, thereby con-centrating in Royal Butterfly Sixth in a pre-eminent de-gree the very best of shorthorn blood. The heifers are mostly by him. and the cows in calf to him. FREDER-ICK'S CADET (19,785), a recent importation, also bred by Colonel Towneley, and of the mateh ess " Barmpton Eose tribe," is beine used to the heifera this season. This unique and unrivalled herd has never been attacked by any disease. Its member* are remarkable for hardiness oi con-stitution, prolific breeding, early maturity, and grand Style, with hair and touch uidicative of rare quality. The whole are in fine healthy b-eeding condition, have never been pampered, nor any of the females even housed during the past four years ; therefore they are thoroughly accli-matised. That the Australian climate is well adapted for the shorthorn is shown by the fact of animals bred from this herd in the colony having in the showyard competed successfully against the best imported stock. Asa proof of the high value set on this pure blood by breeders, the Young Royal Butterfly bulls, five months old and upwards, have averaged, by auction sale at Melbourne for the past

three years, £95 Is. 4d. each. No inducement would have §revafled upon the proprietors to dispose of this valuable

erd, collected by them regardless ofexpense; but family arrangements compel their return to england. Therefore, its unreserved dispersion will afford an opportunity never before offered in the Southern hemisphere of obtaining the nucleus for forming a valuable and select herd, or of add-ing the purest blood to herds dready ioruied.

Terms, Liberal.

Catalogues of pedigrees, with full particulars, prizes obtained, &e., may be had on application to the auction-eers, Bourke-street, Meloourne; or the owners, Messrs. Morton Brothers and Leach, Mount Derrimut, Maidstone, near Melbourne, on or after the 1st day of August.

N.B.-The bull Frederick's Cadet (19,7t>5) is kept for the service of a number of shorthorns, the offspring of carefully selected and well-bred colonial cows j and will be Bold with this lot early in January.
