Diamond Wedding Celebration At Malvern Tomorrow

At their home in Cambridge terrace, Malvern, tomorrow, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Richards will celebrate their diamond wedding. They were married on

March 31, 1875, at Christ Church, Mount Barker, by the Rev. John Gower. The groomsman at their wedding, Mr. H. Freeman, of Mount Barker, who is aged 77, and the two bridesmaids, Mrs. Langley, of Portland, Victoria (79) and Mrs. Foster, of Prospect (72), will be among their guests. Mr. Richards is 85, and his wife is four years his junior. Including Mr. and

Mrs. Richards, the average age of those who were present at the wedding and will attend the anniversary will be 79 years. Mr. Richards is well known as the founder of the firm of motor body builders, T. J. Richards & Sons, Ltd., Keswick. He is still an active gardener, and has one of the most attractive gardens in the Unley district. He was born at Montacute on February 3, 1850. He was first employed by Mr. Adamson. an agricultural machinery manufacturer, at Kapunda He learnt coachbuilding from Mr. L. Maraun at Hindmarsh square, and after a time began business on his own account. From this beginning the large firm of T. J. Richards & Sons, Ltd.. has grown. He is connected with the Royal Agricultural Society, the Chamber of Manufactures, and the Carriage and Motor Body Builders' Association, and has been president of the Unley Horticultural and Floral Society. There are living five sons and three daughters, 19 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
