BRISBANE MUNICIPAL ELECTION.

THE declaration of the poll in the election of three aldermen to serve in the Municipal

Council, took place at the Police Office, Brisbane, on Thursday at noon, by J. Petrie,

Esq., Mayor. The numbers were as fol-lows:—George Warren, 132; Robert Cribb, 118 ; William Samuel Sutton, 90 ; William

Pettigrew, 90 ; John Kelly, 58 ; Lachlan McLean, 55 ; William Mason, 51 ; William Brookes, 48; Robert Davidson, 48 ; Edward Barton Southerden, 22; John Markwell,

19; John Innes, 12 ; Isaac Markwell, 10; David Peattie, 9. The Mayor declared Al-dermen Warren and Cribb re-elected ; add-ing, "Whereas, it appears that an equality of votes, being 90 for each, have been re-corded in favor of William Samuel Sutton and William Pettigrew, by virtue of the power vested in me in clause 22 of the Municipalities Act, I hereby declare in favor of William Samuel Sutton, Esq., and that he is duly elected to serve as an alderman in the Brisbane Municipal Council."
