I)airy Hand Fined for Theft

A story of a dairy employee, who, instead of attending the milking yard when he was called about 3.30 a.m. on September 3. left the premises with

articles belonging to his employer and another employee, was related in the Police Court yesterday, when Francis Bernard Michael Donohue (18), labourer, pleaded guilty to three charges of stealing. On September 3, It was alleged, he stole two -saddle straps and 2/ in money, of a total value of 4/, the property of Frederick Lloyd, and , on the same date a bush rug, valued at 10/, the property of Henry Hayes. -The third charge was that he stole a pair of shoes and 17/ in money, of a total value- of JE1/7/, the property of Lloyd. : ? For the first offence, Mr. -A. P. W. Tregear, P.M., imposed a fine of £1, to include restitution of 4/, in default seven days; on the second a fine of £1 or seven days, and -on the third a fine of £2, to include £1/7/ restitution, or 14 days' - imprisonment, the terms to be cumulative. The complainant in the first and third charges was employed by Hayes, who had a dairy at Herston, said Detective Senior-sergeant Brannelly. The defendant- also ' was employed there. Lloyd called him to attend, the milking yard that morning, but the defendant did not get up until Lloyd left the room, when he disappeared with the straps, money and rug. Apparently on September 23 he again visited the dairy, and took the shoes. He was located by the police on Monday, and admitted the offences.
