MAY LEASE TO OTHER CODE Lang Park Tenancy In Doubt

The Queensland Soccer Council.   which controls Lang Park oval under lease from the Queensland Amateur Athletlc Association, is said

to be considering sub-letting the ground to another code of football during the coming season. The West-ern Suburbs Rugby League Club have used the ground for night training, and are suggested as the most likely to bid for use of the oval. Mr. W. Elson Green, president of the Queensland Soccer Council, yesterday would not deny rumours of a contem-plated lease of Soccer's only enclosed ground to the Rugby League or any other winter sporting body, but made it clear that some members of the Q.S.C. management committee were not satisfied with the financial re-turns of the ground under the con-ditions of last season's sub-lease to the Latrobe-Milton Club.

BETTER GAMES NEEDED The suggestion is that, unless more attractive games can be played at Lang Park during the coming season, the Q.S.C. will be disposed to consider the application of other sporting organisations for use of the ground. 'The quality of the games presented at Lang Park,' Mr. Green said, 'governs the ground's financial value to the code. Returns last season suggest room for im-provement, and unless that improvement is assured by fixtures scheduled by the Brisbane District Football Association, it Is conceivable that increased revenue gained by sub-letting the oval, may place the Q.S.C. ln a better position to pro-mote the game. There are other factors Involved, and as yet no decision has been made within the Q.S.C.' Two years ago Lang Park oval was se-cured by the Queensland Soccer Council by tender from Q.A.A.A., for a period of six years. All major fixtures during the last two seasons, including the games with N.S. Wales, have been staged there.
