DEATH OF SIR GEORGE BOWEN.

LONDON, February 22.

The death is announced of the Right Hon. Sir George Ferguson Bowen, who was the first Governor of Queensland, and was subsequently Governor of NewZealand, Maori this, and Hongkong.

Sir George Bowen, who was in his 78th year, died at Brighton from bronchitis, after an illness of only two days.

At the meeting of shareholders of Nelson Brothers Limited, held yesterday, the directors' report was approved, but the meeting asked for a reduction, in the value of the shales in the company from £10 to £8, in order to provide for depreciation. The Casino Theatre Company of New York, which has lately been playing the musical comedy " The Belle of New York" at the Shaftesbury Theatre, London, under the management, of Messrs.
