NO HIGHER BID WITHOUT IPSWICH

Latrobe's Attitude To Lang Park Lease

Latrobe — Milton Club has decided not to make a higher bid than that offered last year for the use of the Lang Park Oval unless the fixtures of the Brisbane District Football Association are made more attrac

tive, through the introduction of the Ipswich clubs. 'The suggestion that the Queensland Soccer Council was dissatisfied with the revenue received from the ground, and was partial towards sub-letting the oval to another code during the approaching season is resented by my club.' said Mr. G. H. Price, treasurer of the Latrobe — Milton Club, 'and as a member of the State Council I intend to have the matter fully thrashed out at to-night's meeting of the Q.S.C. Mr. Price pointed out that official figures for last season showed that for three matches between Brisbane and Ipswich clubs played at Lang Park under the control of the Q.S.C. the gross gates were only £10 less than the revenue received for 17 fixture matches played under the Brisbane District Football Association. His club was of the opinion that the value of the ground would be en-hanced if the Ipswich clubs were playing In the B.D.F.A. competition, as the clash of Brisbane and Ipswich clubs would increase public Interest. 'If no action Is taken to introduce the Ipswich clubs into the Brisbane competition this' season.' said Mr. Price, 'the Latrobe — Milton Club cannot accept an increase in rental for Lang Park. Give us competition play with Ipswich and my club will hold the ground as headquarters for the code.'
