AUCKLAND, JULY 6. RUGBY FOOTBALL.

The New Zealand Rugby Union, with the consent of the New South Wales Union, proposes to write direct to the promoters of the English team, with a view to induce them to include New Zealand in their tour.

FIRE ON THE MOANA.

On the last trip of the RMSS Moana, a fire broke out. The fire broke out. in the hold the day before arriving at San Francisco. Twenty-two bales of kapok were more or less damaged, and 300 bales' were thrown overboard. It was only the prompt measures taken aboard that prevented a, serious calamity.

INSURANCE DIVIDEND.

The New Zealand Insurance Company has declared an interim dividend of 2s. per share.
