TRAMWAYS TRUST VACANCY

Polling For Group A On January 16

Mr. H. G. Willcox has been appointed to the Tramways Trust to represent the City of Adelaide in succession to Mr. A. S. Hawker, who will retire on January

29. This was announced by the Com-missioner of Public Works (Mr. Mcln-tosh) yesterday. The Minister added that, no other nomination having seen received from the councils of Group B, Mr. F. l. Parsons had been appointed for a second term of six years to represent Burn-side. Campbelltown, Marion, Mitcham. Payneham, Prospect, Walkerville. West Torrens, Woodville. and Enfield. Mr.-Parsons has now been re-elected un-opposed for the second time, which is unique in the history of this group. Mr. Mclntosh said that lor the seat to represent the nine councils com-prising Group A five nominations had been received. They were Messrs. J. E. Bateup (Hindmarsh). W. H. Gilbert (Port Adelaide), E. H. Hannaford (St. Peters), V. Harvey ( Henley and Grange) and F. Smith (Glenelg) The councils of the group were Brighton, Glenelg. Henley and Grange. Hindmarsh. Ken-sington and Norwood, Port Adelaide, St Peters, Thebarton and Unley. Arrangements, he said, had been made to hold an election on January 16 in the Oddfellows' Hall, Molton street, off Flinders street, Mr. J. S. South being the returning officer. Only aldermen and councillors of the group would be eligible to vote. Mr. J. L. Leal was reappoinled Gov- ernment member and chairman of the trust by the Executive Council yester-day.
