DEATH OF DR. MILO SPROD

Had Wide Interests

Dr. Milo Weeks Sprod, well known as physician and sportsman, died at his home, Moseley street, Glenelg, yesterday afternoon, after a com-

peratively short illness. He was the second son of the late Dr. John Sprod, of Kensington, and 'was born in 1882. Dr. Sprod was educated first at Whinham College, then at St. Peter's College, and graduated in medicine at the University of Adelaide. He com pleted his medi cal studies in England and Germany. On his return to South Australia he went to Mannum, where be prac-tised for 15 years. In. 1925 he pur-chased the prac-tice of Dr. .T. B. Davidson, in-con junction with Dr. K. N. Steels, and the partnership was carried on until recently. He succeeded Dr. Dawson as medical officer of health for the town, a posi tion he held until his death. Dr. Sprod had interests outside of his profession. He was chairman of directors of Glenelg Golf Links, Limited, a director of Hardwoods, Limited, and of Freestone Products, Limited. He was also interested in grazing and fat lamb raising in the Yankalilla district. Dr. Sprod was well known in rac ing circles, and raced horses under the nom de plume of "M. Congresby." Among his most successful horses were Opera Bag, whose successes included the Goodwood Handicap 18 months ago; Croden Lad, who won a sprint in Adelaide and one or two in Mel-bourne; and Gay Girl, which was suc-cessful both in Adelaide and Mel-bourne. Dr. Sprod was a member of the A.R.C. committee. Dr. Sprod married Dr. Lica Delprat, a daughter of Mr. G. D. Delprat, former manager of the Broken Hill Proprietary, and she survives. The family are Messrs. John Sprod. Milo Sprod. Henri Sprod, and Miss Made-line Sprod. Mr. H. Y. N. Sprod, of the Stock Exchange, a brother of Dr. Sprod. who has been in Melbourne, will return to Adelaide by the express this morning.
