LEONORA ITEMS Leonora, Dec. 14. At the monthly meeting of the hospital. committee on the 13th, the appointment of secretary fell on Mr. R. Ansley, who has been acting since the death of Mr. S. C. Fowler, the late secretary. There was no other application. In furtherance of the "Heron Memorial Fund" a special picture entertainment was held at Gwalia on Wednesday night under the management of the Co-operative Pic tures Committpe, when a substan? tial sum was obtaixted towards the fund. A collection taken up at the pay window of the Gwalia mine brought in about £30. Mr. C. Foulkes Taylor, who recently returned from a trip to Eligland tendered his resignation as a member of the road board at their last meeting. Mr. Taylor, who has for some years managed the Glenorn Station (near Malcolm)- of which he is part owner, has bought into the Yuin station in the Murchison, and is about to take up the management of the latter property. About a dozen boys, mostly from Gwalia, departed for Bunbury on Thursday night's train, where they will form part of the goldfields con_ tingent under the organisation of the Fresh Air League. The necessary funds -were subscribed by local efforts, conducted by Mr. Syd. Bowden. The '"Bachelors".held their annual ball on Tuesday night, in the Masonio Hall, Leonora, and despite the warm night, a very enjoyable evening was spent. Conventional dress was discarded in favour of whites. The lawns were illuminated with Chinese lanterns, and supper was served in the open. The organising and secretarial work was carried out by Messrs. Ben Walter and W. Moore.
