YUHNDAGCA Yunndaga, Nov. I5 A farewell smoke social was held at the Royal Group Hotel on Saturday night, the 15th inst., in honour of Mr T. Ellis. J.P., who has resigned the management of the Menzies Consolidated G.M. after being connected with it for -the past 20 years, first as underground manager, and during the past year as general manager. Mr. G. Butler cccupied the chair, and the esteem in which Mr. Ellis is held was shown by the large attendance of employees and friends. The chairman proposed the toast of the guest, and his remarks were supplemented by Messrs. Wells, Pickup. Borserio. Redmond, Rohan, E. Williams and other speakers, who all eulogised the good qualities of Mr. Ellis and referred to the good feeling that had existed between the management and the cmployees. The toast was accorded musical honours. Mr. Ellis suitably responded. The chairman, in presentine Mr. Ellis with a handsome gold English lever watch, said he trusted their guest would accept it as a slight token of the esteem in .which he .was held and as a memento of the years he had spent in Yunndaga. Mr. Ellis feelingly thanked every body for the beautiful present Various other toasts a were honour- ed, and a very pleasant evening spent. Host Gilbert provided a very tasty repast.
