GNOW S NEST. When the Brilliant Co. took an option on the Gnow's Nest on May 1, 1924, shareholders were told that, as soon as the mine was drained, Mr. R. C. Wilson. Assistant State Mining Engineer.. would examine, the 1 underground workings, and, if he reported favourably, the Government would advance a .£1 for £1 subsidy . to further develop the mine. On June 3 it was reported in the press that Mr. Wilson had completed his exaauination, and shareholders are anxious to know whether a Government subsidy is t' Ibe forthcoming. Instead of learning this vital point, shareholders are told that a new ore shoot has been picked up on the surface, 200 ft. north of the main shaft, and that it has been sunk on for 20 ft. The first 15 ft. is said to assay 20 dw-t. per ton over 24 in., and the last 5 ft. 21 dwt. per ton over 36 in. As the defunct Gno?v's Nest Co. has to be paid £2500, to come out of the pockets of shareholders, in addition to 10,000 shares, naturally shareholders fwant to know whether the mine, abandoned on the. advice of Mr. George Ridgeway, is worth anythling.
