ROCKHAMPTON, October 24.

Bishop HALE and Archdeacon Plume were passengers by the coast mail steamer this morning.

A tea meeting and dissolving view exhibi-tion, in aid of St. Paul's Church funds, was held in the School of Arts last night, and was very successful. A concert hold to-night for the same purpose was also largely attended. Tho festival in connection with the opening of the church will bo concluded to-morrow even-ing with a torchlight procession by the fire brigade and friendly societies.

TOWNSVILLE, October 24.

Two more deaths occurred on board the im-migrant ship Eastern Monarch to-day. The diseases prevalent in the ship are measles and typhoid fever. All the passengers are still on board, awaiting the decision of the Colonial Secretary as to whether they shall be quaran-tined on Magnetic Island, or only the patients isolated and pratique granted to the others.

'The Queensland Steam Shipping Company's new steamer Warrego, from Glasgow, arrived hero to-day with 302 immigrants, twenty-three of whom are for Townsville. The passengers are all well. The Warrego is a splendid boat.

Mr. Arthur Tearlee, clerk in the employ of Messrs. Benwell and Echlin, hired a horse at noon on Monday to go for a ride, and has not since been seen. The police have searched unsuccessfully for the missing man, and it is feared that he has met with some accident.

At the Criminal Sittings of the Circuit Court to-day Michael Burke was sontenced to two years' hard labour for slabbing Frederick AVilliams at the Lower Burdekin in May

last.

HERBERTON, October 21.

Mr. Hamilton hud u good meeting at Watson-ville last night, and was well received. A voto of confidence andan amendment were proposed, the former being carried. A champagne re-union was held after the meeting. Mr. Hamil-ton will hold a meeting at Ile turn Creek to-night, at Herberton on Thursday, and after-

wards at Cairns.
