NIAGARA STATE BATTERY. Menzies,. Dec. 22. Mr. Prosser, manager of the Menzies, Niagara and Yerilla State batteries, reports having just cleaned up 809 tons- for a total return of 830 oz. smelted gold from the last run of the Niagara State battery. Some of the more important crushings were supplied by tributers on the old Cosmopolitan property. Monaghan land party, on the Altona lease, crushed 119 tons for 231 oz. The sands are worth nearly 8 oz. The holders of the lease consider their prospects sufficiently encouraging to warrant installing a pump driven by a naptha plant, to cope with the w?.ter- in the shaft. From the Englishman shaft, Curtis and party crushed 108 tons for 191 oz; san-s assay 8 dwt. Bowler and party from the same shaft, crushed 50 tons for 35 oz; sands, 4 dwt. Marsh and D0iwson crushed 38 tons for 28 oz. As these tributes are all held under very favourable terms, with a currency of 12 months, there is every prospect of a fair tonnage "being raised, yieldina a good profit to the parties interested. ,The Ohampion mine (McMillan) crushed 38 tons for 21 oz.
