THE MURCHISON GOLD DISCOVERY

A BUSH STRONGLY DEPRECATED'.

[BY TELEGRAPH.]

(FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.)

GERALDTON, July 23.

Twenty men leave to-day for the Mur-chison gold discovery, each with a kit weigh-ing a hundredweight. They are going by team. This makes tbe fourth party to the field since the news carne in. Four diggers

arrived by the South Australian this morn-ing from the North-west and ten by the Lubra last night. Another contingent of 24 are to arrive by the Albany from Cossack, and others are on board the Flinders from Fre-mantle. This rash is regarded with appre-hension of serious consequences. There are no rations yet to be had on the field and the water supply is not known. Should the field turn out a failure serions consequences are not unlikely to result; Thirty navvies have left the Midland works for the field, and others are only waiting to make a cheque sufficient to procure a fit out. Geraldton is I full of strangers on their way to the field or only waiting for Inspector Troy's return before starting.
