CASTLE.

THE POLICE STABLES AND OUT-

HOUSES DESTROYED

BY TELEGRAPH

(FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT)

NEWCASTLE, December 16

The police stables and outhouses here were completely gutted by fire this after-noon. The horses and saddlery were saved. All the hay in the stables was lost. Great difficulty was experienced in keeping the fire under. Mr. Lee-Steere's property was in imminent danger. The police, under Sergeant McKenna, assisted by townspeople, preven-ted the fire from spreading. The fire started in a dung heap close to the stables.
