CLAREMONT-COTTESLOE WINS.

Second Victory of the Season.

Infusing great dash and system into its play, Claremont-Cottesloe produced some of ith best form for the season on Saturday, at the Clareraont Oval, when it de

feated Swan Districts by 40 points. It was Claremont-CotteslpekB second win of the season, the side having been defeated in every match, since June 4. In spite of its succession 'of defeats, however, the team's building-up process has unearthed' some promising juniors, particularly its new forward, D. Lukey. The teams were: — SWAN DISTRICTS.— Backs: Millwood, Woolcock, Pcnberthy. Half-backs: J. Zilko, Clarke, Ford. Centres: Krepp, Grieve, Mosey. Halfforwards: Forbes, Park, Mose. Forwards: Broomball, Sinclair, Hunt. Ruck: Jamieson, Mclnerney, A. Zilko. Nineteenth man: Parnham (replaced Mose, in final quarter). CLAREMONT-COTTESLOE.— Backs: Mottram, Bait, Hilton. Clever turning and great dashes by Grieve sent Swan Districts into attack at the commencement of play, and from a free-kick Broomhall scored a point. Swan Districts had the advantage of the wind, but could only manage a ' succession of points. Fine play by Hough transferred the ball and Steward scored a goal with an excellent shot. Within a minute ,O'Reilly repeated this score. Broomhall kicked Swan Districts' first goal, and ju6t before time Steward goaled with a good running shot. . Claremont-Cottesloe then led with 3.2 to 1.5. Even play was produced early in the second term, and the teams scored goal for goal. Ford and Parks were playing excellently for Swan Districts and Hough, Oliver and Lukey were prominent for Claremont-Cottesloe. Parks (twice) and Morris (twice) goaled for their respective teams and at half-time ClaremontCottesToe led by 15 points— 8.9 to 6.6.. A great dash by Broomhall, followed by a goal, upset Claremont-Cottesloe in the third term, for there was a prospect that its opponents would rally. Brilliant goalfront work, however, by Lukey, who marked well and goaled three times in quick succession, almost put the issue beyond doubt. Swan Districts recovered, slightly at the end of the quarter, but Claremont-Cottesloe, which had played fast, attractive football, was then well ahead— 14.13 to 9.8. Claremont-Cottesloe consolidated its advantage in the final 'term. Following a great mark and kick, Lukey scored his fifth goal and Steward's fifth came from a snap-shot. Mclnnerney, who battled hard for Swan Districts, scored two goals before the bell. The final scores were: — CtlAREMONT-COT. .. 17.14 (Il6pts.) SWAN DISTRICTS .. 11.10 (76pfs.)
