A. Quinlan, of Perth. Born in Perth, Mr. Quinlan was educated at Clongowes College, Dublin, a famous Jesuit college. captain of the Trinity College Club and played for the Gentlemen of Ireland, and he also played Rugby at the University. Returning to Perth in 1920, Mr. Quinlan entered into partnership with Mr. J. R. Maxwell in the legal firm of J. and R. Maxwell, and he was in active practice until about four years ago, when illhealth compelled him to retire from his profession. In search of health he spent nearly three years in Switzerland, and he also visited other European countries. About 18 months ago he returned to Perth. For many years Mr. Quinlan was an outstanding cricketer in this State. He played for the East Perth Club and on several occasions was a member of West Australian teams which visited the Eastern States, once as captain. He also represented the State in matches played in Perth. A good left-handed opening batsman, Mr. Quinlan was always at his best when runs were needed. His services were in demand as a bowler, as he could swing the new ball dangerously. He was a popular player and on all trips proved a delightful travelling companion. It was a blow to local cricket when he was obliged to retire from active participation in the game. In addition to other activities, Mr. Quinlan was a member of the Western Australian Turf Club and Tattersall's Club. Like his father, who was a member of the committee of the Western Australian Turf Club, the late Mr. Quinlan was the owner of several racehorses and he was a keen follower of the sport. In 1925 Mr. Quinlan married Miss Ella Byrne, a daughter of Dr. Louis Byrne, City Coroner of Dublin, and he is survived by his wife and one daughter. A requiem mass will be celebrated in St. Mary's Cathedral tomorrow at 10 ajn., after which the remains will be buried in the family grave at Karrakatta Cemetery.,
