PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency the Right Honorable

William Humble, Earl of Dudley, a member of His. Australia Majesty's- Most Honorable

to wit. Pre v Connel, Knight Grand (Sgd. ) Cross of the Most Distinguished Dudley, Order of Saint Michael and Governor- Saint George, Knight Grand General. Cross of the Royal Victorian

Order, Governor-General and Commander - in Chief of theCommonwealth of Australia.

WHEREAS by the Northern Territory

Acceptance Act 1919 any power vested by an, Act of the State of South Australia, continued in force in the Northern Territory, in the Governor is vested in the Governor-General :

And whereas by section 6, paragraph (g) of the Northern Territory Crown Lands Act 1898 (an Act of the State of Sou.' h Australia continued in force in the Not them Territory), It is provided that the Governor may by

proclamation alter the name of any

town :

Now therefore, I, William Humble, Earl of Dudley, the Governor-General aforesaid, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, do hereby alter the name of the town of Palmerston, in the Northern Territory,

to Darwin.

Great Seal of the Commonwealth of Australia this third day of March, in the year of our Lord One thousand nine hundred and eleven, and in the first year of: His Majesty's reign.
