LEAGUE FOOTBALL

CONCLUDING MATCH TO-DAY. West Perth v. East Perth.

(By 'Rover.')

Well-matched physically and in point of view of skill and Btamina, West Perth and East Perth will meet at Subiaco Oval this afternoon in the errand final match of the

premiership competition of the West Australian National Football League, and the winner will gain the' league pennant for, the 1932 season. If the- weather is favourable, an excellent game should result. Play will commence at 2.45 o'clock. The name of the field umpire will not be announced until this afternoon and the final selection of teams will take pace prior to the commencement of the game. After playing consistently well throughout the greater part of the season, West Perth defeated East Fremantle in the second semi-final match after a hard game, while East Perth, 'after beating South Fremantle in the first semifinal, played one, of its best games of. the season to defeat East Fremantle in the final match last Saturday. In doing bo, East Perth showed itself to be a vastly improved team and considerably enhanced its chances of beating West Perh. Except for some indifferent performances at the start of the season, West Perth was one of the most reliable teams in the first round, in which it defeated East - Perth twice— the first time by 27 points and the second by 23 points. Both games were played at Leederville Oval. In the first series of games, East Perth won with 11.14 to 9.9 on its home ground. Plaelnis of the Teams. , For only the third time this season. West will be at full strength and it will field much the same team with which it won the second semi-final. The only addition to its ranks will be Gordon, the right wingman, who will probably play in his usual position. The half-forward, R. Niven, is reported to have recovered from the illness which forced him to leave 'the field at half-time in the semi-final match and he will take his place' in attack. , ? East Perth' will have all its players available. After the final match on Saturday last, the umpires laid charges against certain players, which meant that East Perth might be deprived qf the service* of one or two of its men in to-day's games. The Protest and Disputes Board met last night and decided to caution R. Lawn (East Perth), who was charged by field umpire Campbell for unduly rough play. V. Sparrow, also of East Perth, and J. Laurie (East Fremantle) were alleged by boundary umpire Ryan to have fought during the match.) The charge against Sparrow was dismissed, but Laurie was suspended for four .playing dates. On a charge of having struck B. Ryan (East Perth), O. Gabnelson (East Fremantle) was also suspended for1 'four playing dates. The following diagram shows the probable placings, East Perth kicking down the column, and the names of it* players appearing below those of West Perth.

Much of East Perth's success against East Fremantle was due to its ability in the air,' a phase of the game in which it showed unaccustomed brilliance, ; although it has, during the season, been a good high-marking team. Marking is West Perth's strongest point, but, if East Perth reproduces its form of last Saturday, it may give its opponents a keen contest in the air.
