WAR MEMORIAL.

Permanent Staff.

CAXBERHA. Dec. S. — It has been decided by the Minister for Home and Territories (Mr. Marr) to place the Australian war memorial staff on a permanent

basis, and appointments announced in tlia 'Commonwealth Gazette' to-day mark the termination of the temporary system under which the work has been carried on to the present. Mr. John L-. Treloar. of the army headquarters branch of the Department of Defence, who was lent to the Home and Territories Department, and who until recently, when he undertook the duties .associated with the British Empire Exhibition, was aetinjc as director of the war memorial collection, has now been appointed permanently to the position' of director, with 'salary at the rate of £69G a year. The war memorial staff has been completed by the transfer of two other officers from the Defence Department to the Home an-1 Territories Department.
