A WESTERN AUSTRALIAN FILM.

The production of "Down Under," a Western Australian picture, which was begun a few months ago, is nearing com--pletion, and the producer (Mr. H.South-

-well) expects to be able next week to submit the film for review by the direc--tors of the company financing the venture. Judging from the samples of film wait--ing to be assembled in the company's office in King-street, the photography leaves nothing to be desired. It appears to be clear and consistent throughout, and the taking of some of the scenes. such as those of a cattle stampede and a trotting race, which are important fea--tures of the story, must have involved a considerable degree of skill and patience on the part of the photographer. The plot is out of the ordinary. There is a delightful love theme, which does not, however, develop along conventional lines, inasmuch as the heroine dies and the hero later sacrifices his life for the sake of his dead sweetheart's little boy. The settings, all of which are Western Aus--tralian, include scenes in King's Park, in the city proper, and on Earlstoun. Sta--tion, on the Eastern Goldfields. The artists are Mrs. Compton. Misses L. Laurence,N. Mills.and J. Austin. Messrs H. Southwell. H. .Millard, J. Hale A. Weir, G. Cotter, M. Richter, L. Walton, G. Temple Poole, and J. Hennessy, and Masters D. Brown. J. Southwell, and A. Raven.
