BIG SHEEP STATION SOLD.

£87,000 Accepted.

Mundabullangana Station, in the estate of the late Mr S. Keith Mackay, who acquired the property from the estate of his late father, the late Mr Sam

Mackay, was sold to Messrs Craig by auction yesterday, for £87,000. The sta-tion, which is situated about 50 miles south-west of Port Hedland, in the North-West, comprises 511,807 acres, and carries 35,000 grown sheep, 190 horses, and extensive plant. Great in-terest was manifested in the auction, 120 persons being present, representing pastoral, banking and business firms. Bid-ding commenced at £60,000, and rapidly rose in sums of £5,000 to the figure which was accepted. The Craig brothers also own Portree, Yalbago, Wandina, and Maroonah stations, and a farm at Dar-danup. The sheep were sold off shears, and the shearing will take place about June or July. The sale speaks well for the value of pastoral properties in the north, more particularly as there was re-cently such a slump in the price of wool. The executors of the will, Messrs H. H. Wheatley and. J. F. Burkett, who were present at the sale, were satisfied that a reasonable price had been offered. The station includes 400 acres of free-hold, the balance being leasehold on which the rental payable to the Crown is 22s. per 1,000 acres. Mundabullangana is within easy distance of Balla Balla, from which port the wool is ship-ped direct to Fremantle. Selected over 40 years ago it had been held by the Mackay family ever since, during which time it has been developed, and exten-sively improved. There are 50 wells on the station, with an average depth of 40ft., and these are equipped with wind-mills, tanks, and troughs. The terms of sale were £5,000 deposit, £50,000 on pos-session, at the completion of shear-ing, and the balance by five equal an-nual instalments from the date of pos-session, with interest at 6½ per cent., or the purchaser had the right to pay cash. The auctioneers were Goldsbrough, Mort and Co., and Dalgety and Co., in conjunction.
