DESTRUCTIVE FIRE AT NEWCASTLE.

THE POLICE STABLES AND OUT-

HOUSES DESTROYED.

NewcASTLE, December 18.

The police stables and outhouses here were completely gutted by fire this afternoon. The horses and saddlery were saved. All the hay in the stables was lost. Great difficulty was experienced in keeping the fire under. Mr. Lee Steere's property was in imminent danger. The police. under Sergeant McKenna, assisted by townspeople, prevented the fire from spreading. The fire started in a. dung heap, close to the stables.
