NEW GERMAN CONSUL

Arrival at Sydney. Sydney, March 18

The new German consul for Australia [Herr H. C. Busing), who will have his headquarters in Melbourne, arrived in Sydney to-day from the East by the

steamer Naitella. He will complete his journey to Melbourne by steamer. Herr Busing said that he felt that as German consul he had a difficult task ahead of him, but he hoped that be would be able to serve Australia as well as his own country. It would be bis earnest en-deavour to restore strong mutual rela-tions between the two countries. He added that so far he had not received in-structions from his Government concern-ing his work in Australia, and he could not say what the instructions would be. He expected that a consul for Sydney would be appointed shortly. In the meantime he would visit the New South Wales capital frequently. Herr Busing is the first German consul appointed for Australia since the war. He visited Australia in 1910. For the last two years he has been German consul at Canton, and was formerly in the consular service in Africa and Norway.
