NORTHAMPTON ROADS BOARD.

The usual quarterly meeting of the Northampton Roads Board was held an Sept 3. Present The Chairman and Messrs. Thos. Barges, W. C. Glass, and W. Rosser.

A letter from the Colonial Secretary was read, stating that the Government could not then meet the wishes of the Board as to giving an extra grant out of reserve funds, but that the matter would be considered later an in the year.

It was resolved that the chairman (Mr. Sand. Mitchell) be asked to write again, and to point out that something must he done at once to meet the rapid increase of traffic from the Murchison district to the Northampton railway station, and expressing a hope that the 475 applied for by the Board on the 2nd July last would be granted.

It was resolved that the sum of 45 The ex-pended the road leading from thorium tiff near Uga to the Wheal Fortune seas.. and! that the same be left in the hands of Mr.

Rosser.

A letter from Mr. T. A. Williams was read, asking permission to place a swing gate across the road leading from Northampton to Lynton. It was resolved that the Secretary (Mr. Hasleby) write to Mr. Williams point-ing and to him that he must comply with the necessary restrictions in the matter before the Board could entertain his application.

It was resolved that the Chairman write to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, asking him to have the survey of the road from KotthampaOBtothe'Geraldine continued, it Having been done for some miles," and now that a surveyer was in the reef hboarbood the expense would not be M heavy (as Who bas toAoeie specially to do the work,
