FEELING IN GREECE.

Storm of Indignation. Athens, Sept 2.

There is a storm of indignation in Greece over the Italian action at Corfu. All the theatres are closed as a sign of mourning and numerous public bodies

have protested. The newspapers are unanimous in condemning Italy's action. American delegates are leaving Athens for Geneva to attend an international Near -East relief conference on Septem-ber 7. The Premier (Colonel Gonatas) declares that the Greek Government firmly believes that, the massacre was not committed by Greeks, and the allegations that, it was committed by Greek bands and connived at by the Government were unfounded. The Italian demands were unjust, because Italy, had no proofs upon which they could in the slightest degreehold the Greek Government responsible. The Greeks had committed no wrong, and the national honour did not permit them to plead guilty, to the crime by ac-cepting the Italian demands.
