Dates for Bivouacs

'Approval for a bivouac for the militia units at Launceston-tho. 16th Battery, Field1 Artillery, and tho Launceston sec-tion of the 12th Battalion-has been re-ceived, and this completes the provi-sion for bivouacs lh this State. Dates for thoblvouucs for tho Northern troops in tho Light Ilorso-Regiment, tho 106th Field Artillery Battery, and other units in tile South were published last week. The first'unit to attend a bivouac will-be tho 12th Field Company Engineers, the members of which Will be at Kingston from Oe lober. 31 to November 3. They will complete tho six days' work at Easter. Thc.blvouaca for the IGth Bat-tery and the 12th Battalion will .be-held simultaneously at Launceston, and the dateB allotted aro Írom March 25' to 30.

SQUADRON MOVEMENTS.

The flagship Canberra arrived.at Vila last Friday, and was to leave there yes-terday for Suva, where she is duo to-morrow. After a visit to Suva tho Can-berra will proceed lo Norfolk Island, ar-riving there on October 3.

H.M.A.S. Australia, which Is circum-navigating Australia, was duo at Gerald-ton yesterday. Her next port of call is Fremantle, vhero she is due on ITrldayl

H.M.A.S.' Albatross, the seaplane car-rier, has returned to Sydney.

? H.M.A.S. Tattoo waa at Cairns on Monday. After visiting other stations on the Queensland coast, Tattoo will arrivo at Brisbane next Wednesday.

AIR FORCE.

It is notified in the "Commonwealth Gazette" that Pilot Officer A. A. Koch, of the General Duties Branch of the Citizen Air Forces, has been appointed to the reserve with the rank of flying officer.

THE JAPANESE ARMY.

BRITISH ARMY COMMISSIONS.

Two cadetshlps at tho Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, for commissions in the Artillery, Engineers, or Signals, and four cadetshlps at the Boyal Military. College, Sandhurst, for commissions in tho cavalry or -Infantry, are available for nominated Australians. Applica-tions for nomination close' on October 1 for the course beginning on January 29. Details are available from the Dis-trict, Base Commandant in each of the capital cities.

Arrangements will bo made for the tirst seml-linal, Army Service Corps v. Army Medical Corps, to be played this week. The winners of this match will play the Signals unit on September 29. Tho final, Heavy Artillery v. winners of the second semi-final, will he played on October 1, and, if necessary, a grand final will be played on October-6.
