Soldiers Dislike Being

Unpaid Film Extras

From Our, Staff Correspondent

LONDON, Aug. 21.-One thousand British soldiers from Corpach Camp, West Scotland, who have been ordered by the War Office to act as film extras in the new Korda film, "Bonnie Prince Charlie," are protesting against these compulsory unmilitary duties.

One soldier declared: "We are weary of chasing up and down moun-tains waving blunt claymores with-out a penny extra pay."

The soldiers were told off for duty

in usual Army fashion, then ordered to change into kilt, tartans, and uni-forms of the time of the 1745 rebel-lion.

The role of Bonnie Prince Charlie is being played by David Niven, with Edward Black as producer.

Black said . that the troops were hired to the film company as they were to farmers for harvesting.

"Most of them enjoy it." he said. "We are paying the War Office £25,000-full crowd rates-for thc use of the troops. If they don't pass it on to the men it's not our

fault."
