GOVERNOR AT FREE MEAL KITCHEN.

His Excellency the Governor (Sir Alexander Hore-Ruthven) on Monday afternoon visited the Salvation Army free meal kitchen at the old Zion

Chapel in Pulteney-street. At the time of his arrival the hot meal, which is served in the evening, was in progress, and his Excellency saw about 50 men seated at the tables in the main room. He was welcomed at the hall by Brigadier McClure and Brigadier John Ward, who is in chan™ at the kitchen, and was shown through the main room, the kitchen, where several cooks were at work, and tl:a storeroom. Ke was informed that about 370 unemployed were provided with free meals at the hall every evening. His Excellency congratulated the Salvation Army on its work, and commented favorably on the cleanliness and efficiency of the kitchen.
