ST. JOHN'S, ASHFIELD.

The Rev. L. N. Sutton, acting locum tcnens at St. Oswald's, Haberfield, has accepted nomination as rector of St. John's, Ashfield.

Mr. Sutton was senior student and Abbott scholar of Moore Theological College in 1925, and took his Th.L. in the same year, when he was ordained deacon. In the following year he was ordained priest. From 1026 to 1927 he was curate at St. John's, Camden, and in 1927, as Lucas Tooth scholar, he went to Oxford. He took his M.A. degree in 1933. During his slay in England he had authority to officiate in the diocese of Oxford, was en-gaged on deputation work In England for the Coloninl and Continental Church Society, and also worked ns n chnplnin at Lille and Pau in France, and Montreaux In Switzerland. Re-turning to Australia, Mr. Sutton was precen-tor of St. Andrew's Cathedral and principal of - the Cathedral Choir School from 1930 until 1933, when he became chaplain and assistant master at The King's School, Parra-matta. In 1937 he was vice-principal and chaplain to Brighton Grammar School, Vic-toria, and also honorary curate at St. An-drew's Church. Brighton. During this year he was locum tenens at St. Oswald's Church of England, Haberfield.
