JOGJAKARTA

SUFFERED FROM DUTCH BOMBS

Eye-witness reports from un-official evacuees from Jogjakarta indicate that the city suffered more heavily than indicated in official communiques, it was authoritatively stated yesterday.

According to these reports, aircraft strafed Jogjakarta with machine-gun fire and rockets, resulting in an unknown number

of civilian- casualties.

Most of the Republican army, it appeared, withdrew before the city was taken.

Information received by the Australian Government yesterday indicates that the Dutch captured , 'Kaliurang but no * word has been received of the two of Australians there, Mr. T. - W.'

No news has been received at Batavia of the results of the visit to Kaliurang of the Dutch official (Mr. de Nanitz) who went there to see to the welfare of the Good Offices Committee.
