FUNERAL OF

DIPLOMAT

Many Attend

About 4,000 people lined King and Phillip

Streets for the State fune-ral of the Swedish Minister to Australia, Mr. O. C. G. Lundquist, which left St. James' Church yesterday.

Mr. Lundquist died last Thursday, He was 59.

More than 300 people attended the service.

A guard of honour of three officers and 50 troops from the 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, led the funeral procession.

The coffin was carried on a gun carriage after the Battalion

band.

Policemen lined Phillip Street

and stood to attention while the band and guard of honour slow-

marched to Handel's Funeral

March.

The cortege left St. James' Church at 3.30 p.m. for the Northern Suburbs Crematorium.

Chief Mourners were: The Swedish Charge d'Affaires, Mr. Bo Alexander; (the Vice-Consul of Sweden, Mr. Knutzelius, and Mrs. Knutzelius, and members of the Swedish legation.

Others attending were: Captain F. B. Morris, R.A.N. (representing (the Governor-General, Mr. McKell)Flight Lieutenant R. B. Nash, A.D.C., (representing the Governor of New South Wales, LieutenantGeneral J. Northcott): the Minister or External Affairs, Mr, P. C. Spen-der (for the Commonwealth Gov-ernment); the Ambassador of China and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
