DEATH OF CAPTAIN DERWAS CUMMING. C.B.C. HEROES. The principal of the Christian Brothers' College has received word announcing the death of Captain Derwas Moring Cumming, M.C., who had won distinctions at Messine, had been wounded at Pozieres, and had seen service in Gallipoli. Captain Cumming was one of the best known and most popu-lar of the boys attending the secondary schools of Western Australia. He was a good athlete, and a natural leader. He left Western Australia as a private, and quick-ly rose to the rank of captain. The principal has also received word of the death of F. L. Percy, M.M. This young hero left Australia a private, won the Military Medal, and was selected to qualify for a commission, which he won, getting seventh place from 150 candidates. He also saw service in Gallipoli. This college has a heavy record of deaths among its most distinguished "old boys." It included the names of Captains Miller, Bryan, and McLeod, and Lieutenants Glowrey, Boor, Quinlan, Mouritzen, Frank-lyn, Gonzales. Appel, Murray, M.C., and Wroblewki.
