WALLABIES LAST

OUT TO DEFEAT

SOUTH SCOTLAND

LONDON, Sunday.

The Australian and New Zealand I

touring Rugby sides scored further I victories yesterday. The

Australian Rugby Union team beat South of Scotland by 15 to 6 after being 3-nil at half-time,

j New Zealand Rugby League players

beat Bradford by 17 to 7. Scores

at half-time were 7-all.

Scorers in the Union game were: Australia, Allen a try two pen-alty goals and one goal; Howell a

field goal.

South of Scotland: McDonald two penalty goals.

Ten thousand witnessed the Australian victory at Melrose.

The home team attacked hotly in the first ten minutes and the Australians

had to touch down twice in as many minutes. After each side had missed penalties, Allen scored with a penalty shot. McDonald then scored a penalty goal for Scotland to level the scores at the interval. South of Scotland put up a great fight until the last 20 minutes when they appeared to tire. The Wallabies did not impress as a great side. They scrummages well and got any amount of the ball, but the handling of the backs and forwards was very

'Uncertain.

- Allen and Howell were always potential scorers, but the South of Scotland defence was so strong that the Wallabies crossed it only in the last few minutes. Kraefft and Cooks were the best Australian forwards.
