HOLLYWOOD, Thurs.—
Gary Cooper who won the 1953 Academy Award as the best actor, has been named the best box-office attraction of 1953 in a poll of film exhibitors conducted by the "Motion Picture Herald."
Cooper, who had been placed in the leading 10 on 14 occasions, had not previously gained first
place.
Cooper displaced Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, who were second. John Wayne retained third position. Alan Ladd-16th in 1952 - was fourth in 1953. Bing Crosby, fourth in 1952, was placed fifth in 1953, followed by Mar-ilyn Monroe, James Stew-art, Bob Hope, Susan Hayward and Randolph Scott.
