ROTTNEST ISLAND. To the Editor. Sir,--May I be permitted to ask through your columns why the Tourists' Denartment has changed Athe names of the folloging old names. on'-the map of Rottnest Island? "Wallace Island," which has for many years appeared on the Admiralty .oharts under that name, now appears on the tourists' map as "Joan Island." "Walcott Beach;" so called after Walcott, the first schoolmaster at Rottnest. has' been altered .to "Paterson Beach," "NarroiP Neck Bay" to "Strickland Bay," "Longreach Point" to 'oint Clune,". and. "Armstrong Bay" to "Catherine Bay." Other new names on the Tourists' Map may be mentioned. "Celia's Rocks," "Charlotte Point," "Henrietta Rocks," and "The Nera Rocks." It looks as if a reader of the "Young Ladies' Journal" has taken a hand in making the alterations referred to.-Yours, etc., OLD SETTLER.
