BOMB DAMAGE IN BELGIUM EXTENSIVE

More than 5,000 Belgians were killed and 21,000 injured during the

six months of V-bomb attacks

This is revealed' by a SHAEF mission to Belgium which says that far more than half of the houses in Antwerp and Liege areas had been destroyed or damaged.

Between May 30 1940, and June 30, 1942, the war destroyed 9,610 houses throughout Belgium and in Greater Antwerp alone 5,406 houses were destroyed from October 1, 1944, to the end of the flying-bomb attacks, while Liege had 3,900 houses destroyed in the same period.

A total of 2,342 V-bomb fell over a ten-mile radius around Antwerp, of which 2,131 were V-2 bombs.

Liege suffered mostly from Nazi bombs and 1,062 persons were killed and 1,818 injured during the six

months to March.
