Andrew

Brigadier Basil John Andrew, formerly of Launceston, has died on active service over-

seas.

Brigadier Andrew, who was a son ot the late Mr. and Mrs. John A. Andrew, Laun-ceston, was educated at Scotch . College, Launceston, and graduated to Duntroon Military College. He completed his train-ing there at the outbreak of the last war, and went on service immediately. He was attached to the 12th Battalion, and at one stage towards the end of the war was tem-porarily in charge. At the end of the war he had the rank of captain..

On his return to Australia he was station-ed at.Launceston, and later in West Aus-tralia and South Australia. At the out-break of the present war he was stationed in Victoria and left for overseas with the Australian Staff Corps about a year ago.

He married Miss Ethyl Pettcrd, and Is sur-vived by his wife and a son (John), who are living in Melbourne. Mrs. H. Cleaver, Launceston, Is a sister, and Mr. H. Andrew, Launceston, a brother.
