Mulrooney Medal

Winner

After the counting of the umpires' votes for the League's award for best and fairest player throughout the season, it was announced that J. Furness, Fairbairn, was the winner with a total of 22 points; J. Bunting, Manuka, second, 19 points; and G. Stevens, Ainslie, 11½ points, third.

J. Furness is a popular choice as it is claimed that he is the finest footballer to appear locally. He is the biggest player in the competition, weighing in the vicinity of 14 stone. Before becoming captain and coach of the Air Force team, he was a fol-lower of the Melbourne Club. Since coming to Canberra he has consist-ently rucked for four quarters and was the deciding factor in Canberra's defeat of New South Wales.

J. Bunting, runner-up, is captain of Manuka and plays centre for his team. One of the most polished play-ers in Canberra, he has given many fine performances this year and rep-resented Canberra in Sydney. He is a product of the University team in

Melbourne.

"Ginty" Stevens, who ran third, put

up a splendid performance as he is

in his first season. A local product, he plays half-forward for Ainslie.
