IN FINAL

Title To Miss Scriven At

Bournemouth

_

One Australian Success

LONDON. April 30.

. Miss xancye Wynne, the Australian champion, who seemed likely to win the English hard court championship at Bournemouth after her victory over the title-holder. Senorita Lizana (Chile) in the quarter-Hnals, was de-feated in the final today by Ml6s Peggy Scriven (Britain). With Boussus, of France, however, she won the linal of the mixed doubles.

In the men's singles final, Kho Slnkie (China) recorded a great victory against Austin (Britain) in four sets. Kho Sin-kle and Lyttleton-Hogers, a tall Irishman, defeated Butler and Wilde, of the British Davis Cup team, in the men's doubles final, after having lost the first two sets.

Miss Wynne received a great ovation when she walked on the centre court with Miss Scriven, who, by her defeat of Miss Kay Stammers, became a finalist for the fourth time. Miss Wynne's forceful drives did not find the court in the first few games, and Miss Scriven, playing cautiously, went ahead to 4-2. Then Miss Wynne's raking, shots began to penetrate her opponent's backhand, and she levelled

at 4-4.

Dominating the rallies, Miss Wynne saved three set points and evened at 5-5, but lapsed, and lost the set 5-7. She made many driving errors In'the second set, and Miss Scriven, by pro-longing the rallies, tired out the Aus-tralian and took the match.
