GRAZING IN THE ERLISTOUN DISTRICT. A PROMISING OUTLOOK Coolgardie, September 28. Mr. Darcy Uhr, managing director of Butcher and Uhr, Ltd., who hold a wide extent of country on the Mount Marge-ret goldfield under pastoral lease, has just returned from the Erlistoun district, beyond Laverton. In the course of an interview, Mr. Uhr expressed the opinion that the country visited by him compared favourably, from a pastoral-ists' point of view, with any part of thie State. He said that his Company helds a strip of country extending northwards of Laverton for a distance of 55 miles, by a breadth of 40 miles, and known as the Erlistoun Station. They now had 500 head of breeding cows travelling from West Kimberley to Erlistoun, where they would have 1,000 head graz-ing before the end of the present year. So confident was he of the success of the pastoral industry in that portion of the goldfields that his Company intended to go in for stock-raising on a fairly large scale. Mr. Uhr further stated that on the Sturt Meadows Station, near Leo-. nora, which was recently purchased by Forrest, Emanuel and Co., there were now grazing 1,000 head of cattle and 5,000 or 6,000 sheep.
