DEATH OF COLONEL "EAGAR. A MILITARY FUNERAL. London, February 16. Colonel H. A. Eagar, of the Royal Irish Rifles, who was wounded and captured at Stormberg on the occasion of General Gatacre's reverse, has succumbed to his injuries at Burghersdorp. His body was transferred to the British at Molteno, and was buried with military honours at Sterkstroom. Colonel Eagar was a son-in-law of Mr. McCulloch, who was Minister of Defence in Sir George Turner's Ministry in Victoria. The wound he received at Stormberg necessitated the amputation of his leg. It was recently announced that President Steyn had promised Lord Roberts that Colonel Eagar would be released as soon as he was able to travel.
