TASMANIAN DEVILS RECAPTURED.

After several attempts extending over a week, the two Tasmanian devils that escaped from their enclosure in the Beaumaris Zoo on the Domain the day before the Hobart regatta were recap tured on Friday night. The animals, possiblv frightened by their strange quarters, tore their way through the strong wire netting of then cage, but did not escape from the grounds, and look refuge in a culvert at the southern end of the gardens. Baits were laid for them on several occasions, but al-though they were taken each night the animals could not be caught. Mr. Reid, the curator, constructed a box trap and set it at the mouth of the cul-vert on Friday evening, a very tastv bait of lamb's heart being set in order to induce the escapees to enter. This they did, and on Saturday morning they were back in their reinfoiced enclosure.
