Thanks a million far the Canberras

. . . the best of

lurk!

Two thousand work-ers at the Govern-ment aircraft factory at Fishermen's Bend were thanked yester-day for their part in building: the Can-berra jet bombers.

Wing- - Commander D. R. Cuming and Squadron -Leader Peter Raw (at right), who will each pilot a Canberra jet in the air race from London to Christchurch, N.Z., begining on October 8, were given a rous-ing reception by the workers during their lunch hour.

Wing-Cdr. Cumins thanked the factory workers for their part in producing the Canberra jets, which he considered were better aircraft and easier to handle than the English Can-berras now in Aus-tralia.

Mr. John Miles, chief test pilot of the Govern-ment Aircraft Factory, welcomed the two fliers.

He said that all work-ers in the factory wished success to the Australian fliers.
