'Giant' to train with Bulldogs

CYRIL SMITH, giant Queensland cricketer
and footballer, will fly to Melbourne this week to play in Footscray practice match on Saturday.
A 6ft. 5in. and 16-stonc follower, Smith will be the guest of Footscray for a week, and will see the first match against Essendon on April 19.
If Smith thinks he can make the grade in Melbourne League football he will return early next year to train mid play with the Bulldogs. .
The northern "giant" was selected in the Queensland team for the interstate car-nival at Brisbane in 1050, but was injured before the matches and was unable to play.
His club in QueenslandYeronga-wear the samecolored guernseys as Foot-scray.
Footscray'.«, president, Mr. Con. Weichart, is responsible for Smith coming to Mel-bourne.
Mr. Weichart saw him bowling for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield cricket match against Victoria late in December, and was very impressed with his agility.
He asked the Queenslander to come to Melbourne and have a run with his club.
