DEATH SENTENCE

Gilbertian Law in

Esthonia

MAN RECOVERS FROM

EXECUTION

BERLIN, Tuesday,

An Esthonian law, which gives criminals a choice of execution by poisoning or hanging has created a very difficult position.

Serge Vasilenko, who selected poison, was proof against the legal dose, which is definitely set out in the law. After a weak of acute pain he recovered from his execution. Vasilenko

has refused all invitations to be

hanged.

Jurists are now engaged on a careful

examination of the law in the hope that some legal means of putting him to death may be discovered.
