1,200 CHEER GEELONG'S

JUBILEE PENNANT

TWELVE hundred

football fans

packed Geelong's big-gest dance hall last night to see the 1951 Jubilee premiership pennant handed over to the Geelong club.

The Palais Royal was decorated with Geelong slogans. For the fans, they were all summed up

in the biggest banner of all: "Please Do It Again in 1952."

The fans cheered wildly as Dr. McClelland, V.F.L. presi-dent, handed over the pen-

nant.

And they cheered even more loudly as Dr. McClel-land handed the 1951 Brown-low Medal to Bernie Smith, vice-captain.

But the proudest boy in the hall was Bernie Smith's small son. He stood on the platform, and saw his father

receive, in addition to THE medal:

A certificate of apprecia- tion from the V.F.L. ;

A trophy from the Ford

Motor Co.;

A trophy cup from a Geelong supporter;

And cheques for £35.

The Ford cup was pre-sented by Mr. J. M. Ferris, a Ford executive, who said that the whole firm was so football-minded and Geelongminded that a letter had recently arrived addressed to the "Ford Football Co. Ltd."

Mr. Hubert Opperman, M.H.R., presented to the Geelong president, Mr. Jack Jennings, the Commonwealth Government's Jubilee trophy for the 1951 premiership.

Geelong's captain Fred Flanagan, Neil Trezise (rover), Tom Morrow (fol-lower), Bruce Morrison (full back), John Hyde (centre half-back), and George Goninon (full forward) also received trophies.
