RICH PRIZES TO RADIO PLAYERS

THE Macquarie Award for 1950 was announced

last night by Mr. Neil Hutchinson, director of drama for the Australian Broadcasting Com-mission, who was chairman of the judging panel.

The award, which is for radio performance in the weekly 3AW Caltex play, is

as follows:

• 100 guineas and trophy for best female performance—Miss Neva Carr-Glynn for her role in "Half Light."

• 100 guineas and trophy for best male performance—Allan Trevor for his role in "Devil's Disciple."

• 50 guineas and medallion for best female supporting role — Miss Queenie Ashton for her per-formance in "Edward, My Son." • 50 guineas and medallion for best male support—Allan White for his performance in "Iris."

• 50 guineas for best comedy per-formance of the year—John Caza-bon for his portrayal of all seven members of the family in "Kind Hearts and Coronets."
